September 2005
What a great summer we have had of riding the trails and now we are continuing into the fall season and those fine October rides. On Saturday October 8 we will be holding the annual Mt Toby pleasure ride in Leverett. Some good hills and fine views on this ride which is being run by Gordon DeWolf. Contact him at 508-867-437 for further information
Nancy Russell is running the next ride which is on Sunday October 16 in the
Douglas State Forest which is a really nice place to ride. Please note
that this ride will be to benefit St Jude
Children's Research Hospital. Nancy can be reached at
nrussell@massarab.org or 508-476-9974.
The 2 day ride over the August 6 and 7 weekend was a big success with many
riders on both days and several people and horses camping overnight. Thank
you Gordon for a ride well run, and for taking such good care of us as always.
We had a good time and were glad that it wasn't too hot. In fact it got quite
cold overnight and Sunday morning we were completely fogged in. The fog burned
off before any riders left in the morning so was not an issue. Hope you can come
to the Jack Millman HoofCare/Shoeing Clinic on November 6. It promises to be a
very interesting day. Among topics that will be covered are: proper trimming
procedures to correct hoof distortion, laminitis, egg bar and heart bar support
procedures, white line disease.
There will also be plenty of time for questions, and horses will be on site for
demonstration purposes. It is being held in an indoor arena at 125 Longhill rd,
W. Brookfield from 9am - 1pm. The cost will be $15 for AHAM members and
$20 for non members. Snacks will be provided but bring lunch ifyou would like.
