SEPTEMBER 2004
The 2 day ride that AHAM held at Barre on July 31 and Aug.1 was a great
success. The weather was fine in spite of a pessimistic forecast, and a total of
36 riders enjoyed the weekend. Several riders camped with their
horses at Felton Field. The horses really seemed to like being in their corrals
with their owners in tents and campers nearby. Many volunteers contributed
their time and skill to making things run smoothly, for which
we thank them. Rich Gamester grilled wonderful lunches for us on both
days, Audrey Safford and Jim Bolton handled the registration, and Gordon DeWolf
and Marty Guild marked the trails. AHAM appreciates all
who volunteer and recognizes and thanks them again at the end of year
award ceremony.
October brings 2 more pleasure trail rides for you to enjoy.
Saturday Oct.9 will be at Mt Toby Stables in Leverett. There will be short and
long loops of about 10 & 20 miles. Contact Gordon DeWolf for further information
at 508-867-7437 or
gdewolf@massarab.org. On October 17 the ride will be at
Douglas State Forest. This will be a 15 mile ride. Nancy Russell is the contact
person and can be reached at 508-476-9974 or
nrussell@massarab.org. Hope to see you there.
AHAM events and memberships are open to all riders and any breed of horse. You
can check our website for information and ride updates at
www.massarab.org.Now that fall is here and
the bugs are fading away, I hope that you will all be out enjoying the trails
with your horses.
