MAY 2004

After a wet, cold start to spring the riding season should be well under way by the time you are reading this. We will have had our first pleasure ride at Otter River (hope that you were able to be there), and will be looking forward to June activities. Sunday June 6 is the AHAM fun show at Camp Marshall in Spencer. It really is a fun show with many different classes and divisions for all. It's not too late to contact Sandy Crowe at 508-473-2545 for information and to sign up to ride or volunteer to help.

The following Sunday, June 13 AHAM is having a pleasure trail ride at the same location. There will be a choice of either a short or long loop to ride of about 10 or 20 miles. Both loops will be marked, and there will be coffee and donuts provided at the start and lunch at the finish. Lots of parking and the trails are great, so hope to see you there for a fine day of riding. Contact Sally Hill at 508-476-3895 for information.

If you are not able to ride that day or at the Fun Show but would like to help out, volunteers are always needed. To show our gratitude to those who do volunteer any time, short or long, we have a sign-up sheet at each event so that you can earn points for awards at the end of the year. Volunteering is also a very good way to find out what these events are all about if you are new to this. AHAM always welcomes new members and membership is open to all riders and any breed of horse. You will find a membership form in the Equine Journal or on our website MassArab.org.

We will be sending out two mailings this year. One for May - Aug. and one for Sept - Nov. An entry form will be included in the first mailing only, so it is up to you to make copies for all the trail rides, or you can download it from the website. If you do not receive a mailing please contact Marty Guild at gonerydn@rcn.com or 508-655-1405.

Dawson Arabians of Harvard, Mass would like to congratulate Ann Lapoint of Waxhaw, N.C. on her recent aquisition of their 2003 Ganges colt, Canadian Spirit. "We wish you the greatest luck with this exciting colt." Dawsons are also looking for a Saddleseat rider to ride one of their show horses this season. If interested please call 978-456-3303.

I'd like to introduce two new horses to the club. RA Beyonet (Zeus) was recently purchased by Marty Guild, and LL Asia purchased also recently by Anne Quill. Zeus is a handsome grey 7 year old Arab gelding and Asia is a pretty dapple grey 6 year old Arab mare. You will be seeing them out on the trails! Remember to check the website MassArab.org regularly for updates on events, new activities, any changes etc. Also entry forms and information about AHAM. Send your email address to the website too if you havent already done so, then we can keep you up to date. If you have any news that you would like to share please contact me at Castlekeepers_plus@hotmail.com.

Thank you and Happy trails! submitted by Anne Quill
