JULY 2004

Many members and friends of AHAM have been enjoying our club activities this spring.  On May 23  we had 26 riders at Otter River for a  pleasure ride on what turned out to be a fine day in spite of a murky start.  The trails were marked by Gordon DeWolf and were much enjoyed by all.  Gordon and I  ran the ride and  we were then all treated to a fine cookout lunch provided by Rich Gamester, for which we thank him very much.

On June 6 the  Spring Fun Show took place at Camp Marshall. It was very well attended and I know that everyone had fun. Winners included a championship for Amanda Hill in the Arab/half Arab division and a reserve championship for Carolyn Hill in the lead line division. The show was run by Sandy Crowe  with the help of many
hard working volunteers.  None of these events could take place without volunteers so if any of you find yourself able to help for a few hours or a day, the contact person who is running the event would love to hear from you. We have a sign up sheet for volunteers at each event and prizes and awards are given at the end of the year.

The following week, on June 13, we were again at Camp Marshall, this time for a pleasure ride. It was a beautiful day for riding  and 33 of us  rode the trails that had been carefully marked by Shirley and Neil Standring. Many thanks to them for
doing this and for including access to a beautiful view from a point on the trail where we could gaze across the valley all the way to Mt Tom.  Thank you too to Sally Hill and her two helpers, Amanda Hill and Beth Quill  for running the ride and  providing lunch for us all afterwards.

Our web site is  www.massarab.org. Please check in frequently for events,
entry forms, membership forms and news.  We are now linked to equinesite.com
so you can access us  directly from that website.  Our thanks to Nancy and
Steve Russell for doing that.

We wll have had our two day trail ride at Barre on July 31 and August 1.
Hope that you were there and able to spend  an overnight camping with your horse and socializing around the camp fire as well as enjoying riding the marked trails.

Our next pleasure trail ride will be on Sept.12 at Willowbrook Farm in Groton. There will be a long and a short loop of approximately 10 and 20 miles.  Gordon DeWolf  is the contact person so please call him if you plan to ride.  He can be reached at 508-867-7437 or at gdewolf@massarab.org.  The fall Fun Show is also being held on Sept. 12 again at Camp Marshall in Spencer. Sandy Crowe is running that so please call her at 508-473-2545 for further information.

AHAM events and memberships are open to all riders and any breed of horse. If you are interested in joining you will find a membership form in the Equine Journal or can download one from our website. Membership dues include a years subscription to the Equine Journal which is an added bonus!

If you have any news that you would like to share, or any suggestions or
comments  for me, I would much appreciate it and can be contacted at

Thanks and have a great summer!
