AUGUST 2004
Many members of AHAM and their friends have been enjoying the
summer with their horses on the trail, in the show ring and in the breeding
barn. AHAM has sponsored several pleasure trail rides and a fun show, each
of which has been a great success.
Now that fall is nearing we can look forward to the finest time of year for riding in New England. So mark your calendars for September 12 as AHAM is holding a marked pleasure trail ride in Groton and a Fun Show in Spencer at Camp Marshall. Hope you will be able to attend one or the other. Gordon DeWolf is the contact person for the trail ride and can be reached at 508-867-7437 or gdewolf@massarab.org and Sandy Crowe is in charge of the fun show and can be reached at 508-473-2545.
Looking ahead to October we have 2 more pleasure rides. October 9 at Mt Toby Stables in Leverett. Contact Gordon for more information on that one. October 17 the ride will be in the Douglas State Forest in Douglas. Nancy Russell is running it and can be reached at 508-476-9974 or nrussell@massarab.org.
One of AHAM's long time members from way back, Deborah New, is getting married next month and then moving to South Africa with her husband Peter (a terrific guy). They are taking 3 Appaloosa mares and a stallion prospect with them and setting up a breeding farm. I just wanted to wish them all the best.
Nancy and Steve Russell of Near River Farm are proud to announce the birth of a beautiful colt by multiple champion Padrons Mahogany out of their mare Latte Witez B.A. For more information on this colt contact Nancy via AHAM's website MassArab.org. Congratulations to you all, he is a beauty!
Hope that you will check the website frequently for news updates and schedules etc.
In August Marty Guild sent out the club's second mailing of the year which included the calendar of events for the rest of 2004, so members should have received this by now.
AHAM is always pleased to welcome new members and their horses. As a member you can ride for points which then turn into awards at the end of the year. There are different categories for Arabs and non Arabs, as well as a point and award system for volunteers at any of our events. If you find that you are able to help at any of the rides or shows it would be great if you would get in touch with the contact person. Volunteers are hugely appreciated!
Membership forms are in the Equine Journal or can be downloaded from the
website.
Keep on riding!
