AHAM newsletter- April 2004

Spring is here-time for trail rides and fun horse shows! AHAM is having its first organized pleasure ride of the season on Sunday May 23 at Otter River in Baldwinsville. This is a terrific place to ride and the trails will be marked by our president, Gordon DeWolf. There will be 2 loops, one of about 10 miles and the other of about 20, so you can decide before you set out exactly how far you want to go. There will be coffee and donuts before the ride, and lunch afterwards. For further information you can contact Gordon at 508-867-7437 or gdewolf@massarab.org.

Our trail rides are open to all riders and any breed of horse and we hope that lots of you will come.

Membership in AHAM is also open to everyone, and members can ride for points and awards in many different categories.  There is a membership form in the Equine Journal or on our website:   www.massarab.org.  Membership also includes a years subscription to the Equine Journal which is an added bonus!

On Sunday June 6 we have the Fun Horse Show at Camp Marshall in Spencer. This is a great location for a show, there's a huge variety of classes to choose from, and again is open to all riders and any breed of horse. For further information please contact Sandy Crowe at 508-473-2545.  Then on Saturday June 13 we have another pleasure trail ride, also at Camp Marshall in Spencer. Sally Hill is the contact person and can be reached at 508-476-3895 or shill@massarab.org. This ride will have two marked loops of about 10 and 20 miles, and most certainly will include donuts and lunch! Are you ready for some riding? I hope that you will be inspired and come out for a fun day with your horse.

AHAM now has its own website (thanks to Nancy and Steve Russell) which is www.massarab.org and we encourage you to check it regularly for news, updated activities, changes in times, etc. and for down-loading entry forms for each event. It would be very helpful if you would send your email address to: aham@massarab.org  then we would be able to contact you that way, keep you updated and save on mailing costs.

AHAM always welcomes new members. You will find a membership form in the Equine Journal and also on the web site. Membership is open to all riders and any breed of horse, and everyone can compete for points and awards in a lot of different categories. Points and awards can also be earned by volunteering your help at the rides and shows. Assistance is always needed and a sign up sheet will be available at each event. Please call the contact person if you can help in any way.

Our first trail ride will be on Sunday May 23 at Otter River. The trails are marked and the ride is run by Gordon. It's an easy place to get to, has plenty of room to park, and is a wonderful place to ride. Hope to see you there.
